The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has launched Rev360, a new digital platform for tax administration. This platform aims to make tax filing and compliance simpler for everyone.

The NRS introduced the platform on Wednesday. They want to encourage more people to pay taxes voluntarily and make tax services easier to access.

This move will help Nigeria change its tax system from manual processes to a digital one. The new platform offers a taxpayer-friendly Tax Administration 3.0, according to the NRS.

This is part of Nigeria's plan to modernise its tax system. The government introduced new tax laws in January. These laws aim to increase revenue, improve collection, and meet global standards.

Zacch Adedeji, the chair of the NRS, said Rev360 is a game changer. He believes it will help the agency move to Tax Administration 3.0. He added that it should improve service delivery, compliance management, transparency, and make it easier for taxpayers to interact with the tax authority.

"Rev360 represents a significant step towards building a more modern, efficient, and responsive tax administration system that aligns with global best practices and the evolving needs of taxpayers and businesses," Mr Adedeji said.

Taiwo Oyedele, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, was represented by Mohammed Dabjuma, the permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance. He praised the NRS for its changes and said the platform could help with revenue generation and tax compliance.

The minister mentioned that Rev360 is key to improving business activities and boosting investor confidence. He added that modern tax systems are crucial for creating transparent and friendly conditions for businesses to grow.

According to Ini Akpan, the NRS's executive director of technology, Rev360 provides the technology needed for the agency to work effectively.

Mr Akpan said making tax payments easier will encourage more people to comply with tax laws.

"The technology platform makes it easier for taxpayers to pay their taxes. It is faster, more seamless, and ultimately supports higher levels of voluntary compliance," Mr Akpan said.

Rev360 is designed to streamline how taxpayers interact with the NRS. The platform includes features like easy taxpayer registration, tax filing, payment processes, and managing objections and appeals. This makes compliance more efficient and straightforward, according to the NRS.

The tax agency stated that filing tax returns or making payments is now easier. They designed the system to provide a user-friendly experience at every step.

Since the platform started in April, about 600,000 taxpayers have signed up, according to the NRS.
