Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and the Federal Road Safety Corps are mourning the death of the Ogun State Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, who passed away after a brief illness.

The Ogun State Sector Command announced Ogunjobi’s death on Sunday through a statement from its Public Relations Officer, Chief Route Commander Afolabi Odunsi.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed called Ogunjobi’s death a painful loss for the FRSC. This comes soon after the passing of a former Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu.

In a condolence message, Mohammed shared his sorrow, saying the death has plunged the FRSC family into mourning. He said, “There are moments when words become inadequate to express the depth of our grief. This is one of such moments for the Federal Road Safety Corps. Just as we struggle to come to terms with the loss of our former Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu, the death of Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi has brought another painful reminder of how fragile life is and how deeply the loss of a colleague can affect an entire family.”

Mohammed described the FRSC as a family united by sacrifices and a commitment to saving lives on Nigerian roads. He urged officers and marshals, especially those in Ogun State, to stay united during this tough time. He prayed for Ogunjobi’s soul to rest in peace and asked God to comfort his family and give strength to the FRSC family.

Governor Dapo Abiodun also expressed sadness over Ogunjobi’s passing. He called it a painful loss to the corps, the road safety community, and Nigeria.

In a statement to journalists on Sunday, Abiodun sent his condolences to the Corps Marshal, the national leadership of the FRSC, its management, officers, and Ogunjobi’s family, friends, and colleagues.

Abiodun noted Ogunjobi’s dedication to road safety, public education, and stakeholder engagement. He highlighted how Ogunjobi’s work showed the importance of service in protecting lives and property.

The governor emphasized that Ogunjobi played a key role in promoting responsible road use, ensuring compliance with traffic laws, and making Ogun State roads safer for drivers and other road users.

Abiodun said Ogunjobi’s death is especially painful now, as road safety officials work hard to reduce accidents and protect citizens. He prayed for Ogunjobi’s peaceful rest and encouraged his family, colleagues, and friends to find comfort in his service to the nation.

The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists also mourned Ogunjobi, saying his death was sudden and deeply saddening.

A condolence letter from the chapel, signed by Chairman Comrade Yetunde Fatungase and Secretary Hakeem Adegbenro, praised Ogunjobi’s leadership, dedication, and commitment to the FRSC’s mission.

The chapel acknowledged Ogunjobi’s efforts in public education and media relations. They described him as an accessible and media-friendly leader who understood the importance of working with the press to save lives on the roads.

They recalled that Ogunjobi had recently agreed to a courtesy visit by the chapel, stating that his professionalism and warmth would be missed by journalists in the state.

The association extended its condolences to the FRSC leadership and staff, especially in Ogun State, as well as Ogunjobi’s family and loved ones.

Earlier, the Ogun State Sector Command had described Ogunjobi’s death as a significant loss to the corps, his colleagues, and the road safety community.

The command said Ogunjobi will be remembered for his leadership, commitment to road safety, and dedication to the organization’s goals. They mentioned his contributions to safer roads, public education, stakeholder engagement, and traffic law compliance during his time.

The command also expressed condolences to his family, loved ones, colleagues, and friends, adding that funeral details will be provided later. They prayed for Ogunjobi’s eternal rest and for strength for his family and colleagues.
