The Kegbo of the Atikori Kingdom in Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State, Oba Ibitoye Solaja, has urged all indigenes of the community, whether at home or abroad, to join hands and help develop the kingdom.

The king made this call during an interview on Saturday at his palace. This comes ahead of events planned for his 25th coronation anniversary in December.

Oba Solaja stated that the growth of the Atikori Kingdom relies on the combined effort and contributions of its people. He pointed out that the community has produced many successful professionals in different areas.

He said the kingdom is home to accomplished people whose skills and experience can be used to improve the community.

“In the whole of Ijebu-Igbo, Atikori is Ward One. God has made us leaders. Our Kingdom has produced notable vice-chancellors, professors, medical doctors, distinguished engineers and architects, successful entrepreneurs, accomplished writers and many other outstanding sons and daughters who have excelled in different fields.

“I therefore appeal to every indigene of Atikori, both at home and abroad, to remain committed to the development of our Kingdom. Let us deploy the knowledge, resources, experience and goodwill that God has blessed us with to build a stronger, greater and more prosperous Atikori.

“Historically, whatever Atikori does, other communities often emulate. Let us therefore continue to provide leadership through unity, vision and service. Together, we can preserve our heritage while building a future that generations yet unborn will be proud of,” the king said.

Appeal for Government Support

The traditional ruler also called on both the Ogun State and Federal Governments to put more money into infrastructure and public services in the kingdom.

He mentioned that the Atikori Kingdom hosts important public institutions, including Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic and the Nigerian Correctional Service Academy. He believes this makes the community deserving of more government support.

Oba Solaja stated that more investment would boost the educational and economic potential of the community and speed up development.

He thanked God for keeping him safe over his 25 years on the throne. He prayed for ongoing peace and growth in the kingdom.

He shared that activities for the silver jubilee celebration will include the launch of community projects, the installation of chiefs, a praise concert, and a thanksgiving service.

The king invited all indigenes, friends of the kingdom, and well-wishers to join in the anniversary celebration.
