Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved a new extension for the one-day-off-duty work palliative for eligible public and civil servants. The governor also approved a monthly transport allowance of ₦10,000 for three more months, covering July to September 2026.

These measures are designed to help workers with transportation costs and encourage them to provide good service to the people of Ogun State.

Previously, Governor Abiodun had approved these palliative measures from April to June 2026 due to the rise in petrol prices.

Under the new arrangement, the one-day-off-duty rule will not apply to workers on shift duties or those providing essential services. This includes medical workers, judicial service staff, teachers and non-teaching staff in primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions, security personnel, political office holders, accounting officers, directors, and others who receive Special Responsibility Allowances for their roles that require them to be present at work.

A circular from the State Head of Service, Mr Kehinde Iskeel Olanrewaju Saka, mni, urged all qualified workers to take advantage of this arrangement while ensuring that service delivery remains high.

The state government has committed to the welfare of its workers. It promised to keep implementing policies that boost productivity while reducing the economic burden on the workforce.
