Oyebamiji Promises Changes in Power, Education, and Health for Osun State

The All Progressives Congress candidate for the governorship election in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has promised to focus on power generation, education, and healthcare if he wins the election.

Oyebamiji spoke on Sunday during a meeting with the Osun Muslim Community leaders in Osogbo. He also said he will improve security across the state, noting that safety is key for economic growth and business activities.

The former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority mentioned that a group of experts created plans to boost the state’s economy and enhance the lives of its residents.

He stated that the plans target important areas like education, healthcare, power generation, agriculture, and workers’ welfare.

"My decision to run for governor is intentional. We have set up a team to look into different sectors to make quick improvements, especially in power generation, education, healthcare delivery, and agriculture, to help our economy grow."

"We will be fair and ensure that resources are shared evenly across the towns in the state. I am a true Muslim who has always followed my faith, and I trust that I will win on August 15, 2026," Oyebamiji said.

The President of the Osun State Muslim Community, Mustapha Olawuyi, earlier described Oyebamiji as a devoted Muslim and humanitarian. He said Oyebamiji has consistently supported the Muslim community over the years.

"Oyebamiji is known to us as a good Muslim. His contributions to Islam, the Muslim community, and humanity are significant."

"We are not partisan as an Islamic organization. We work hard for the betterment of humanity and the spread of our faith," Olawuyi added.

Voters in Osun State will go to the polls on August 15, 2026, to choose a governor from 14 candidates approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Oyebamiji is running under the APC, while the current Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking a second term with the Accord Party after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party.

This election is expected to be one of the most closely watched off-cycle governorship elections in Nigeria.
