Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has promised a better second term in office. He thanked God for what he called the achievements of his government in the first four years.
Oyebanji linked his administration's success to God’s kindness and the support of President Bola Tinubu. He is sure that the next four years will bring even more development to the state.
The governor spoke during a special praise session called "Eight Hours of Praise" in Ado Ekiti on Sunday. This event marked the end of his first term and celebrated his upcoming inauguration for a second term.
Oyebanji will be sworn in for a second term on Friday, October 16, after winning the governorship election on June 20.
On his hopes for the next four years, Oyebanji said, "With God’s grace and support of the people, my second term will be far more impactful than the first."
He added that he would keep praising God for His greatness and involvement in the state’s affairs.
At the event, Oyebanji addressed a large crowd of worshippers, government officials, political leaders, and the people of Ekiti. He said the journey of his government in the past four years showed divine grace.
He stated, "I actually don’t have much to say today other than to explain the reason I chose to have this ‘Eight hours of praise worship’ to God. When they were crafting the programmes for the inauguration, I told my wife that the only thing I wanted, and that is extremely important, is eight hours of quality praise and worship to God. Four hours for the last four years and another four hours for the next four years."
Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, praised Oyebanji for his leadership and dedication to the people. He believes that Oyebanji’s next term will see even greater accomplishments.
Bamidele said, "Oyebanji’s decision to organise a praise programme to show gratitude to God on behalf of himself and the state is a reflection of his heart of gratitude to God."
He urged the governor to stay confident and focused during his second term. Bamidele expressed hope that "the governor will not only build on the achievements of his first term, but also exceed expectations."
Dr Emmanuel Emefienim, Managing Director of Premium Trust Bank, also spoke. He predicted a more successful future for Ekiti State, saying there would be greater achievements and testimonies during Oyebanji’s second term.
Emefienim called the event spiritually significant. He said it was more than just showing gratitude; it was a declaration of faith that would have lasting effects for Ekiti State and future generations.
He added that this gathering would be a lasting memory for the state, with its impact felt by both current and future generations of Ekiti people.
Emefienim said, "You have sent grace ahead of the second term. The best way to fight in the spiritual realm is to praise God even before the fight begins. I believe that the next four years, by the grace of God, will be better than the first four."
