The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has set up a reconciliation committee. This committee includes respected elders and notable citizens. They will address complaints from some aspirants and important stakeholders after the recent party primaries.
The announcement came on Sunday. This move aims to repair relationships and keep peace and unity after the party’s primaries. These primaries are crucial as the state prepares for the 2027 general elections.
A statement from the state Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, in Ibadan, listed the committee members. They are Senators Olufemi Lanlehin, Brimo Yusuf, Hosea Agboola, and Akin Oke. Other members include former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Prof. Afolabi Oladapo; Idris Adeoye; Pa Timothy Jolaoso; Olukemi Alao-Akala; Adebayo Adewusi; Gunju Ojo; and Adekemi Opatunde.
The party will inaugurate the committee this week. The state Chairman of the party and former Deputy Governor, Moses Adeyemo, will lead the inauguration. The committee will reach out to all those who got the APC’s Expression of Interest and Nomination forms in Oyo State. This includes those who did not get the party’s tickets to run for different elective positions.
Sadare explained, "The reconciliation committee, upon its inauguration later this week, will be tasked with meeting all relevant stakeholders, including aspirants who are dissatisfied with the outcome of the recent primaries that produced the APC’s candidates for the next general elections."
He added, "It is hoped that this effort will bring about the desired peace and unity for our great party to record a resounding victory at the polls next year."
