Oyo police catch 10 people with suspected human parts

The Oyo State Police have arrested 10 people for having and using suspected fresh human body parts.

The police said they caught the suspects in separate operations based on intelligence across different areas of the state.

In a video shared by Oyo Affairs, the police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the arrests happened on August 1 at various locations in Iseyin and Shaki in Oyo State.

Mr Ayanlade claimed that these suspects were using human body parts to make ritual mixtures that they believed would bring them wealth.

"The ten suspects here were arrested on the first of August 2026, for allegedly being in unlawful possession of fresh parts suspected to be human parts," Mr Ayanlade said.

Suspects admit to having human parts

The video also included interviews with the suspects.

One of them, Nurudeen Ganiyu, who said he is a farmer, revealed that he had been using a human skull to make a ritual mixture for about two years. He got the skull from a man called Ila.

Mr Ganiyu said he was told the mixture would make him rich, but he claimed his financial situation got worse instead.
"I was arrested because I used a human skull to make a ritual concoction. They told me it would work for the wealthy, but since the two years I used it, it didn’t do anything. My life just kept getting worse and running down," he explained.

He stopped using the mixture after seeing what happened to the person who gave him the skull. "The person that gave me the human head I used later became mentally disordered. So I stopped it since I also used it for two years and there was no difference," he added.

Mr Ganiyu also shared how police officers allegedly tricked him into a meeting before arresting him.
"When we met they introduced themselves as officers and arrested me," he said.

Others share their experiences with human bones

Another suspect, Ismail Abdullahi, said he used human bone to prepare a snail mixture.
Mr Abdullahi, who said he is an Islamic teacher, claimed he got the human bone about four years ago and was taught how to use it.

"I used human bone to make snail concoction. It’s been four years since someone gave me the human bone. He taught me how to use it," he said.

He explained that he ground the bone, bought three snails, and prepared the ritual mixture, which he drank after being told it would make him wealthy.
But he said he had not become rich after four years of using it.

Another suspect, Wasiu Tijani, is said to have linked Mr Ganiyu to others involved in the use of human parts.
He claimed he got human parts from a man named Suleiman in Shaki and paid between N20,000 and N30,000.

Abiola Nasiru, 46, also said he got human parts from another suspect, Taofeek, who was among those arrested.
Mr Nasiru said they used the parts for rituals meant to make people wealthy. "No one we used it for has become wealthy," he stated.

The police did not share any details about the forensic status of the materials found with the suspects or confirm if they were human remains.
Mr Ayanlade told PREMIUM TIMES that investigations are still ongoing and more details about the arrest will be shared later today.
