Pastor Kumuyi: Trust God, Not Government, for Solutions

As insecurity remains a big issue in Nigeria, Pastor William Kumuyi, the founder and General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, has called on Nigerians to trust God instead of looking for answers from humans.

Pastor Kumuyi shared this message after meeting with journalists following a press conference with Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, who was represented by his deputy, Sam Ode, at the Government House. This meeting was part of his Global Crusade in the state.

His visit is part of a week-long Global Crusade happening in Gboko and Otukpo Local Government Areas. The theme for the crusade is "Breaking the Yoke Through Christ."

The crusade will end on July 2.

The 85-year-old pastor said, "When bad things happen, there are people who may be responsible, but they are not the solution. God is our problem solver. When we hope in God, trust in God, and believe in God, our problems will be solved. God is waiting for us.

"He said, 'If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and turn away from their sins, I will hear from heaven and heal their land.' He is ready to solve the problem for us. If we open ourselves, pray, and turn from our wicked ways, trusting in him, God will answer our prayer."

There’s hope

Pastor Kumuyi also emphasized that Nigeria has hope. He said the crusade is a way to encourage people to return to God and seek His help.

He urged Nigerians, both at home and abroad, to join efforts in tackling insecurity and other problems facing the country.

"When there are problems, whether personal, family, community, state, or national, there are concerns, but we shouldn’t let those concerns make us lose focus or hope.

"We generally say: when there is life, there is hope, and we should not make things worse by throwing stones," he added.

The pastor praised the progress Benue State has made, calling it remarkable.

"Benue is making remarkable progress in infrastructure and education, despite the visible challenges of insecurity."

Pastor Kumuyi congratulated Governor Alia and the people of Benue on the state’s 50th anniversary, commending the achievements in infrastructure and education.

He recognized the spiritual strength of the Church in Benue, saying the crusade activities will be broadcast to over 180 countries.

Visit of hope

Speaking for the governor, Mr Ode described the visit as a divine sign of hope and restoration.

He pointed out that the visit coincides with Benue’s Golden Jubilee celebrations, the governor’s 60th birthday, and the third anniversary of his administration.

Mr Ode expressed confidence that the crusade would bring renewed hope, restore lives, and lead to lasting change in the state.

He also assured that Governor Alia’s administration is committed to reviving the spiritual and moral life of its people.

He encouraged citizens to participate fully, expressing hope that the crusade would lead to greater testimonies, peace, unity, and progress in the state.

Benue

Benue is one of the states most affected by insecurity in recent years. Armed attackers have repeatedly targeted communities, forcing many people to flee their homes.

Displaced persons are still living in camps across the state, while the government and security forces continue working to restore peace and help affected communities return home.
