Plateau United punish Kano Pillars

Plateau United put on a great show, scoring four goals without any reply from Kano Pillars. Paul Samson got things started by scoring in the third minute, giving the home team an early lead. Kano Pillars found it hard to keep up, and Ekundayo Ojo made it 2-0 just before half-time.

In the 82nd minute, Samuel Ayanrinde added another goal. Nenrot Silas then sealed the win with a penalty in the 90th minute. This victory lifted Plateau United to 14 points and third place on the table, making their title chase look promising.

Kano Pillars faced a tough defeat. The former champions stayed on 11 points and sat in 10th position.

Rangers survive Barau scare

Rangers had to fight for a draw to keep their top spot after ending the match 2-2 against Barau FC in Kano. Ifeanyi Okechukwu put Rangers ahead in the 38th minute, but Barau quickly equalised with a penalty from Joseph Atule in the 56th minute.

Aliyu Sugau scored another penalty for Barau just 12 minutes later, putting the hosts in front. Rangers didn’t give up, with Chidiebere Nwobodo netting a goal in the 90th minute to rescue a point for his side.

The draw brought Rangers to 17 points from eight matches, just ahead of Rivers United. Rivers held onto their unbeaten streak with a 0-0 draw against Abia Warriors, reaching 16 points and staying in the race for first place.
