Nigerian dancer and hypeman Iweh "Poco Lee" Odinaka is back on social media after getting out of detention in the United Kingdom (UK).
PREMIUM TIMES earlier reported that UK authorities arrested Poco Lee in August and charged him with five sexual offences, which included two counts of rape.
He got bail in September and was later seen with singer Burna Boy. Activist Martins "VeryDarkMan (VDM)" Otse shared a video of them together on social media.
Poco Lee returned to Instagram with a series of photos. This was his first post since 15 August.
The pictures showed him eating and smiling while holding his phone in a relaxed outdoor setting that looked like it was outside Nigeria.
He wrote "ODINAKA" in the caption and apologized to his fans for being away from social media for so long.
The post has received over 25,000 comments. Many entertainers and fans welcomed him back. Some of those who reacted include Zlatan, Israel DMW, Lanre Alewilese, Phyno, Yhemo Lee, Cubana Chief Priest, Cute Abiola, Destiny Etiko, Kiekie, MC Edopikin, Kemity, Jigan, Rahman Jago, and Officer Woos.
Innocence
Poco Lee insists he is innocent of the charges against him. He said believing in his innocence helped him deal with his time in detention.
This newspaper reported that he recently talked about the allegations. He said he was more worried about his loved ones than himself during this time.
He expressed concern about how his detention impacted his family and their businesses. He wanted to avoid adding any extra stress on them while facing his situation.
Poco Lee also thanked Burna Boy, Rahman Jago, and others who supported him during the tough time. But he mentioned that some people seemed happy to see him in trouble. He does not feel he owes everyone an explanation.
Backstory
Poco Lee's release from detention does not mean the legal case against him is over, as reported by this newspaper.
Snaresbrook Crown Court has set a plea and trial preparation hearing for 8 February 2027. This is when Poco Lee is expected to state if he pleads guilty or not guilty to the charges.
While some of Poco Lee’s friends have claimed that the complainant has withdrawn the case, the CPS has not confirmed this.
The prosecution service has also not explained the details of his release or any conditions that might be attached.
