The Ogun State Police Command announced on Friday that they have arrested a woman who appeared in a viral video. In the video, she was holding a knife and insulting police officers. This happened after she was arrested for selling cannabis, also known as Indian hemp.
The woman, dressed in a green gown, was seen sitting in a car. She was shouting insults at the officers who had arrested her.
Later, she got out of the car, brandishing a knife and threatening a young woman who seemed to be one of the officers recording the scene.
In Yoruba, she said, “Why are you troubling us, are we the only ones selling Indian hemp? And you have continued to harass us repeatedly, it will never be well with you….”
This incident took place in Ijebu Igbo, the headquarters of Ijebu North Local Government Area in Ogun State.
On Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, spoke about the video. He confirmed the suspect’s arrest and said that investigations are ongoing.
Babaseyi stated, “The suspect has been arrested and the matter is already under investigation.”
The state Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN, was also informed about the situation. He confirmed that the police will charge the woman in court on Friday.
Ogungbade said, “I have contacted the CP over the viral video and I was told that the woman will be charged to court today.”
