The Lagos State Police Command has put to rest fears about a threat notice that was said to be posted in a school. This notice claimed that bandits planned to attack and kidnap schoolchildren. The police assured everyone that there is no solid information to back up this threat.

On Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer for Lagos State Command, Superintendent Abimbola Adebisi, shared a message on X. He said the command is aware of the report. He urged parents, guardians, school authorities, and residents to stay calm, emphasizing that there is no real sign of any attack happening soon in the state.

The Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Tijani Fatai, has ordered a quick assessment of the situation. He also directed that security be increased around schools and other important places in the state.

Police officials confirmed that officers, alongside other security agencies, have been sent to protect schools, key infrastructure, and communities.

The Command reassured everyone that Lagos is safe. They highlighted that there are measures in place to stop any threats to public safety.

"There is currently no verified intelligence indicating any imminent threat of such an attack within Lagos State. While we take every security concern seriously, we ask the public to remain calm and avoid panic," the command stated.

They added that security agencies will not accept any attempts by criminals to create fear or disrupt public peace in the state.

"The Command will not tolerate any actions by miscreants, bandits, kidnappers, or other criminals that threaten the peace and safety of residents. Anyone found causing fear or insecurity will face the law," they said.

Residents were asked to stay alert and continue to help security agencies by providing timely and reliable information. They noted that good policing relies on public support.

The command also encouraged people to report any suspicious individuals, movements, or activities to the nearest police station or through their emergency lines: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870, and 09168630929.

They reaffirmed their duty to uphold law and order and to ensure the safety of all residents in Lagos State.
