Four suspected armed robbers who are also linked to cult activities have been arrested with a homemade gun at their hideout in the Soka area of Oluyole Local Government Area in Oyo State. This operation was carried out by the state Police Command.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, shared this information in a statement issued in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, on Friday.
Ayanlade explained that the arrest happened due to reliable intelligence reports about the activities of these suspected criminals in the area.
He said, “On Friday, June 10, 2026, at about 6am, operatives from the command’s Violent Crime Response Unit acted on credible intelligence. They received information that members of a well-known criminal group, known for causing fear among residents in several parts of Ibadan, were operating in the area.
“The intelligence reports showed that the suspects were getting ready to carry out another crime in the community at the time of their arrest.”
The suspects have been identified as Salawu Sarafa, also known as Folori, Yusuf Tajudeen, known as Blacky, Farouq Ariyo, and Adebayo Awosemo, who goes by Naira. They admitted to being part of the Eiye Supremo Confraternity.
Ayanlade stated, “During preliminary questioning, the suspects confessed to being members of the Eiye Supremo Confraternity. They also admitted to taking part in several violent crimes within Ibadan and surrounding areas.”
He mentioned that the command has begun thorough efforts to catch other suspects who escaped and to dismantle the criminal network. Investigations are ongoing to find out the full range of the gang’s activities and to identify other people involved.
