Operatives of the Force Intelligence Department and Special Tactical Squad, along with vigilante groups and other security agencies, have arrested seven suspected kidnappers in the Federal Capital Territory and Kaduna State.
The police reported that this operation led to the discovery of the remains of Miss Oluwadamilola Adedayo. Her body was found in the gang’s camp at Tukuba Forest, Kuje, Abuja, on October 19.
Oluwadamilola was kidnapped with her mother, Mrs Nancy Adedayo, her 12-year-old brother, David Adedayo, and their housemaid, Jennifer David. They were taken during a gunpoint attack at their home on Adedayo Adeosun Street, Kuchiyako, Kuje, on August 23, 2026.
The police shared that the kidnappers released the victim’s mother after about an hour. They did this to get her to arrange for ransom payment. The housemaid and the boy were beaten and left unconscious in a forest. They later woke up and managed to return home.
During a press briefing on Friday in Abuja, ACP Godfrey Victor, the Commander of the STS, said two suspects were first caught in Rijana community, Kaduna State. Five others were later arrested in Sagbon Lugbe, Abuja, after a joint operation by the police, vigilante operatives, and other security agencies.
Godfrey said, “After we received a petition from the Inspector-General of Police’s Secretariat on October 15, 2026, FID-STS operatives started an intelligence-led investigation. This led to the arrest of two members of the syndicate at Rijana Community, Kaduna State. Five more members were caught at Sagbon Lugbe, FCT, Abuja, due to the teamwork of FID-STS operatives, vigilante groups, and other security agencies.
“On October 19, 2026, operatives led by ACP Victor Ogbiede Godfrey went to the gang’s camp at Tukuba Forest, Kuje, FCT, where they found the decomposing body of Miss Oluwadamilola Adedayo.”
He mentioned that the family paid N16.2 million for the release of the kidnapped children. But the suspects later asked for another N50 million before they would release Oluwadamilola.
Godfrey named the suspects as Ishaka Abdullahi, 27, also called Langalanga; Abdullahi Dabo, 42; Abubakar Jibrin, 20, also known as Mai-Laya; Barahu Ibrahim, 24, also called Black; Sani Mohammed, 24; Alidu Lawal, 18, also known as De Jaguar; and Yakubu Abubakar, 28, also known as Soldier.
“From the suspects, we recovered four AK-47 rifles, one locally made revolver, 63 rounds of live ammunition, a mobile phone believed to be used for ransom talks, N400,000, and a motorcycle,” he stated.
Godfrey added that investigations linked this group to the kidnapping of a businessman, John Ali, in Kuje on September 24.
The father of the murdered victim thanked the Inspector-General of Police and all the operatives involved in the case. He called for justice for his daughter.
He said, “The kidnapping and murder of our beloved daughter, Oluwadamilola, has caused our family great pain. But the support and assurance from the police leadership has given us strength. We hope that justice will be served.
“We continue to ask the police, with God’s help, to thoroughly investigate this matter and make sure all those responsible for this terrible act face justice.
