The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber, Austine Emenike, also known as "Oyibo." They recovered guns and ammunition during an operation in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

The police called this arrest a big win. They acted on reliable information that led to the operation.

Police Public Relations Officer, Blessing Agabe, shared this news in a statement from Port Harcourt on Monday.

She said the arrest followed orders from the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju.

"The Rivers State Police Command has achieved another significant operational success in its fight against violent crime. We arrested a suspected armed robber and recovered several firearms and live ammunition in a focused operation based on intelligence."

"Acting on credible information, our operatives arrested Austine Emenike, known as 'Oyibo,' from Aluu Village, Rivers State. We recovered one locally made pistol, four single-barrel guns, and five live cartridges," she added.

Agabe also mentioned that early investigations linked the suspect to a larger criminal group.

"Initial findings show that the suspect is part of a wider criminal network. Investigators are following important leads to find and arrest other gang members and uncover their activities," the statement said.

Commissioner Adepoju praised the police team and promised to keep fighting violent crime in the state.

"This arrest and the recovery of dangerous weapons show our commitment to addressing violent crime and protecting law-abiding citizens in Rivers State. We will keep carrying out intelligence-driven operations until we eliminate criminal elements completely," Adepoju stated.

He encouraged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious people or activities. He stressed that public support and good information are crucial for better security in the state.
