The police have rescued an eight-year-old boy who was kidnapped in Gombe State.

They said the rescue happened after a two-day operation based on intelligence. This operation also led to the arrest of four suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Umar Chuso, shared this news on Wednesday during a press briefing in Gombe. He talked about the command’s recent successes in fighting kidnapping, armed robbery, cybercrime, and other crimes.

Mr Chuso mentioned that the boy's father reported him missing to the Akko Divisional Police Headquarters on 28 June. This was after the boy did not return home, having left the evening before.

The police quickly started an investigation based on intelligence. This led them to the suspects' hideout on 30 June.

The commissioner explained that the police first caught Abdullahi Mohammed in Jauro Musa Quarters, Kumo. His confession helped the police find three more suspects: Mohammed Magaji, Sale Sale, and Walida Ya’u.

“The victim was rescued unharmed from the suspects’ custody and has since been reunited with his family,” Mr Chuso said.

He also noted that investigations are still ongoing. The suspects will face prosecution once the investigation is complete.
