Supporters of Abiola Makinde, who represents Ondo East/Ondo West in the House of Representatives, protested on Wednesday. They were upset that his name was left out of the candidates' list from the All Progressives Congress' national secretariat.

Makinde is aiming for a third term in the House. He reportedly took part in the party's primary election and won. But his name did not appear in the final list released by the party.

This news comes just days after many women in the APC in Ondo State protested in Akure, the state capital. They were unhappy with the candidate list from the party’s national office.

The women claimed some names on the list did not belong to those who won in the primary elections held last month.

On Wednesday, the protest moved to Ondo Town. Hundreds of APC members loyal to Makinde marched through the main streets to show their anger over what they called injustice.

The protesters sang songs of solidarity and carried placards with messages like “Truth Must Prevail in APC,” “We Reject Injustice,” and “This Injustice Can’t Stand.”

They argued that the appeal list did not show the real results of the primary election. They warned that any effort to change Makinde’s victory could lead to problems within the party.

During the protest, Isaac Oyebade, a party leader in the area, said supporters would not stay quiet about what they see as injustice.

“Our loyalty to the APC is clear, but loyalty does not mean we will be silent when faced with injustice,” he stated.

“We are here to protect the mandate given freely by party members and to make sure that justice is served.”

Another party leader, Ife Olasanoye, called the protest a fight for truth, transparency, and justice.

He said the stakeholders were not against the APC but were trying to defend “the core values upon which the party stands.”
