Troops from Sector 2, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA have killed two suspected Lakurawa terrorists. They also recovered weapons and ammunition during an operation in the Sabarumawa area of Kebbi State.

This operation took place on June 27. It followed intelligence that the group was planning to attack the Sabarumawa community.

The Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt.-Col. Aliyu Danja, shared this information in a statement on Sunday.

Danja said troops from the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion 7 quickly moved to the area. They set a tactical ambush along the terrorists’ suspected route to stop the planned attack.

The statement explained, "The successful operation followed credible intelligence indicating that the terrorists were planning an attack on the Sabarumawa community."

"Acting swiftly on the information, troops of the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion 7 mobilised to the area and established a tactical ambush along the terrorists’ suspected route of advance in order to foil the planned attack."

As the terrorists got closer to the ambush, the troops fired at them with strong firepower. This led to a fierce gun battle.

The troops' superior combat skills made the terrorists panic. Two of the terrorists were killed, while the rest ran into the nearby forest. The statement continued, "the superior combat effectiveness of the troops forced the terrorists into disarray."

After the fight, troops found AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines, 143 rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle at the scene.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA confirmed its commitment to continue operations against terrorists and criminal groups in the North-West.

They also encouraged the public to keep giving timely and reliable information to support ongoing efforts against terrorism.
