Security agents have arrested a suspected bandit and seized an AK-47 rifle after stopping an attack on a school worker and his son in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, as reported by the Berom Youth Moulders Association (BYM).

The victims are Gyang Luka, who works at Eliztor Private School, and his son. They were riding a motorcycle along the Dorowa Babuje route on Thursday when suspected bandits ambushed them.

In a statement by Rwang Tengwong, the National Publicity Secretary of BYM, the group praised the quick action of Operation Enduring Peace, also known as the Special Task Force, for their fast response to the incident.

The group said that the military's quick action led to one suspected attacker being caught and an AK-47 rifle being recovered, while other gang members fled towards Jong settlement in Ropp District of Barkin Ladi LGA.

BYM urged the military to keep up their good work with more patrols and intelligence-based operations to find the fleeing suspects and break down the networks behind the attacks in the area.

They also called for a thorough investigation into the activities of suspected armed groups in the area, especially those believed to be behind attacks on residents.
