The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has denied Kaduna Electric's claims that a problem with the 330kV Jos transmission line caused a drop in power supply in its area.
In a statement on Thursday, TCN said all 330kV transmission lines linked to Jos were working and supplying bulk electricity.
TCN called Kaduna Electric's statement "false and a deliberate misrepresentation of facts." The company noted there has been no problem with bulk power transmission on any 330kV line supplying Jos since the Jos, Lafia 330kV Line 2 circuit breaker was restored.
The company explained that the circuit breaker was opened on August 23 for voltage control. This was part of a routine operation to keep the grid stable.
"For the avoidance of doubt, all 330kV transmission lines connected to Jos are in service and transmitting bulk power," TCN's statement said.
"TCN recorded a lone incident on 23rd August 2026 at 03:30hrs when the Jos, Lafia 330kV Line 2 circuit breaker was opened for voltage control. This was a routine operational action to maintain grid stability."
According to TCN, the line was back in service at 11:59 pm on August 24 and has remained operational since then.
"There has been no outage or disruption of bulk electricity transmission on any 330kV line supplying Jos attributable to TCN since that restoration," it added.
This situation came after Kaduna Electric announced on Wednesday that reduced power supply in its area was due to lower load allocation.
Kaduna Electric said the drop was mainly because one generating unit at the Shiroro Generating Station was out and there was a fault on the 330kV Jos transmission line.
The company mentioned that the fault meant Shiroro was supplying Jos and nearby areas instead.
Kaduna Electric also stated that, based on the National Control Centre Daily Load Allocation for August 25, it received 104 megawatts. This included 54MW from the Mando 330kV Transmission Station and 50MW from the Birnin-Kebbi axis.
The company said it was working with TCN to distribute the available power fairly and monitoring efforts to restore supply.
But TCN urged Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders to check facts with them before making public statements about transmission issues.
"We urge Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders to verify facts with TCN before issuing statements that misinform the public and create unnecessary anxiety," TCN said.
TCN also advised electricity customers in Jos and surrounding areas to ignore what it called misleading information. It assured them that it is dedicated to providing stable and reliable bulk power transmission to distribution companies across the country.
