The President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, governors from Southwest states, and the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, are expected at the 11th General Assembly of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN). This event will take place on November 15 at the University of Ibadan Central Mosque.

AbdulRahman AbdulGhaniy, who is the Chairman of the General Assembly 2026 Central Planning Committee, shared this information in a statement in Ibadan. He mentioned that Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum will deliver the annual lecture.

Leaders from various Muslim organisations across the Southwest will attend the annual General Assembly of MUSWEN. This gathering is important for discussing issues that affect the Muslim community in the region.

Besides the annual lecture, delegates will also approve the leadership change in the organization. The current president will step down after leading MUSWEN for the last six years.

Rasaki Oladejo became President of MUSWEN on November 22, 2020. He took over from the late Sakariyau Babalola.

In the statement, Mr AbdulGhaniy urged Muslim philanthropists to help MUSWEN reach its goal. They aim to raise N2 billion to support projects like helping the less privileged, building a modern health facility, and providing scholarships for those in need within the community.

MUSWEN acts as the umbrella body for all Muslims in South Western Nigeria. Its main member organisations include the Muslim Communities or Muslim Councils from all the states in Southwest Nigeria.
