Tinubu Launches APC Campaign Council, Promises Governance Continues

President Bola Tinubu has promised Nigerians that governance will not stop for election activities as the country approaches the 2027 presidential election.

Mr Tinubu made this promise on Wednesday during the launch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) at the State House in Abuja.

He stated that his duties as president will carry on without interruption. He emphasized that Nigeria needs constant focus on its urgent national issues.

“The responsibility of this office does not pause,” the president said.

Mr Tinubu mentioned that he would keep engaging with Nigerians about his government’s achievements and plans. He will let the council handle campaign activities in different states and local government areas.

“I will still make time to speak directly with Nigerians, even as you lead the campaign in the states and local government areas.

“So you will excuse me from going everywhere with you. We have bills to pay,” he added.

The president pointed out that the government has financial responsibilities and must draw in investors to aid the country’s economic growth and future development.

“The job must go on. We have bills to pay. The American creditors cannot wait. We want those investors to come in, be here to stay, to invest for the future of our children,” Mr Tinubu said.

He stated that the APC is prepared for the 2027 elections. He described the launch as a renewal of the party’s promise to Nigerians and its duties as the ruling party.

“The APC is ready. We have not gathered merely to inaugurate a council.

“We have gathered to renew a covenant, a covenant with the Nigerian people and the historic responsibility they have entrusted to us as Nigeria’s governing party.

“We promise we will not let them down,” he stated.

Mr Tinubu encouraged members of the council to share the party’s vision, achievements, and development plans with Nigerians in every community and ward.

“Let the word go out from this hall to every corner of our nation. The APC is ready,” he said.

He urged party members to stay committed to building the nation. He referenced his time as Lagos governor when he took action to address the risk of flooding from the Atlantic Ocean.

“There is no limit to daring. You must dare, you must be determined,” he said.

The president also warned APC governors, lawmakers, and other leaders not to take previous election efforts lightly. He called them to show dedication as the 2027 elections approach.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, governors, important politicians, and APC youth and women groups were among the attendees.

The APC Presidential Campaign Council, led by Director-General Abdulaziz Yari, will begin its presidential campaign in Kaduna on October 24.
