President Bola Tinubu has welcomed Sa’idu Umar Ubandoma back to the All Progressives Congress. He called Ubandoma's return a good move for the party.
Ubandoma met with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday night. He was introduced by the APC leader in Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, after recently joining the ruling party.
In a statement released on Wednesday by Aliyu Tukur for Ubandoma, Tinubu showed happiness over the former governorship candidate’s choice to rejoin the APC. He assured him of his support and that he would be fully welcomed into the party.
“I am delighted to welcome you back to the APC. You have my support, and you will be fully integrated into the party,” Tinubu said.
The President also asked Ubandoma to keep a close working relationship with Wamakko and Sokoto State Governor, Aliyu Sokoto. This is to help strengthen the party in the state.
“Sustain your close working relationship with Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto as we continue to strengthen the APC and consolidate the progress already recorded,” the President added.
The statement described the meeting as friendly and productive. It noted that they talked about improving the APC’s situation in Sokoto State and building stronger unity in the party.
Ubandoma recently moved from the African Democratic Congress to the APC after a short time in the opposition party.
He has served as the Commissioner for Finance and was also the Secretary to the Sokoto State Government. He was the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 general election before joining the ADC and then returning to the APC.
