So far this year, the main stock index has jumped by 62 percent.
Investors are now waiting for the half-year results from four of the Big 5 banks, especially with the end of the third quarter approaching.
Analysts at Meristem Securities expect the positive mood from last week to carry on into this week. They believe this will be boosted by renewed interest in buying and stronger market activity.
They said, "With liquidity gradually returning to the broader market following the Dangote Refinery IPO positioning, investors are likely to refocus on stocks with attractive valuations and strong fundamentals. This should keep buying interest firm, particularly in names with meaningful upside to their target prices."
Looking ahead, the recent cut in the monetary policy rate by 3.5 percent could lead to more money flowing into stocks soon. This is because yields on fixed income securities are expected to fall.
