Nigerian stocks dipped slightly last week, down by 0.5 percent. This drop was mainly due to selling pressure on bank shares affecting the main stock index.
Out of the five sector indexes watched by the Nigerian Exchange, all but the insurance index fell.
"Investor positioning ahead of Q3:2026 earnings should provide extra support, especially as expectations rise around the Tier-1 banks’ results," analysts at Meristem Securities said in a note to investors before the week.
"The ongoing effect of Nigeria’s FTSE Russell reclassification should also keep trading activity active and maintain interest in big-cap stocks," they added.
The release of companies’ Q3 earnings reports is expected to start soon.
