Troops Save Three Kidnap Victims in Katsina

Troops from Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, rescued three people who were kidnapped. This happened during an operation on Dandume-Sheme Road in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The rescue took place on Thursday, September 3, 2026. Residents called for help, warning security forces about the suspected terrorists in the area.

Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, said the troops worked with the Nigeria Police to quickly head to the location after getting the alert.

In a statement released to newsmen on Friday, Danja said the security forces confronted the terrorists, forcing them to run away into the nearby bushes.

He stated, "Acting on the distress call, troops in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police swiftly mobilised to the scene and made contact with the terrorists, overwhelming them with superior firepower."

Danja added that the terrorists fled in chaos, leaving behind the kidnapped victims as they escaped from the advancing troops.

"Exploitation of the general area led to the rescue of three kidnapped victims along with two vehicles used by the terrorists," Danja explained.

He mentioned that the rescued victims and the recovered vehicles were handed over to the Divisional Police Officer in Dandume for the necessary next steps.

Danja also said that troops are still active in the area, carrying out aggressive patrols to stop the terrorists from moving freely and to prevent more attacks along the Dandume-Sheme route.

He pointed out that this successful operation shows Operation FANSAN YAMMA's dedication to protecting lives and property in the Joint Operations Area.

Danja encouraged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.

"Operation FANSAN YAMMA appreciates the general public for its continuous support and urges them to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities within their localities to the nearest security outpost for prompt action," he said.
