Uba Sani Promises Education for Every Child in Kaduna

Governor Uba Sani has promised to make sure every child of school age in Kaduna State has access to basic education before his term ends.

Mubarak Mohammed, the Executive Chairman of Kaduna State Universal Basic Education, shared this at Sheikh Abubakar Gumi Market on Wednesday while representing the governor.

The governor said, “Education is a right in Kaduna State under our administration. Basic education is free and it is not a privilege. So, it is an offence for children of school age to roam the streets during school hours.”

Mubarak also spoke about the high number of out-of-school children in Northern Nigeria. He praised Governor Sani for the significant progress made in reducing this number in Kaduna State.

“Governor Uba Sani has successfully returned more than 360,000 children back to schools. This effort has reduced the over 500,000 out-of-school children that were previously in the streets,” he said.

He urged parents and guardians to enroll their children and wards in schools. He emphasized that “education is the greatest leveler which can elevate children of humble backgrounds to enviable heights.”

Mubarak, speaking on his own, revealed that SUBEB has built over 2000 classrooms to cater to the new pupils coming into schools.

On Wednesday, SUBEB kicked off the 2026/2027 School Enrollment Campaign. Senior government officials, education stakeholders, and staff of the Board took part in a road walk from the State Secretariat to Sheikh Abubakar Gumi Market. During the event, speeches were made to highlight the importance of basic education.

Five children came forward for enrollment during the awareness campaign. The Executive Chairman instructed the relevant officials to ensure they get enrolled into primary school.
