The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). In this exam, 61.54 percent of candidates got credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
Amos Dangut, the Head of WAEC’s Nigeria National Office, shared the results at a press briefing in Lagos on Wednesday.
Mr Dangut mentioned that 1,200,514 candidates met the requirements for admission to higher education. This was out of a total of 1,950,726 candidates who took the exam across the country.
He also said the examination took place between April 24 and June 19.
According to him, 102,708 examiners worked on the marking of scripts, which happened at 88 venues nationwide from July 2 to July 20.
“Today, I am happy to inform you that all the processes leading to the release of results have been completed. It is now my pleasure to announce the release of the results of candidates who sat the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2026 in Nigeria,” he said.
