The Abia State Police have arrested a woman named Mrs Sara Innocent. She is accused of stabbing her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death during a fight. This happened in the Obingwa Local Government Area of the state.
The stabbing took place on Saturday night at Umuokereke Ngwa in Obingwa.
On Tuesday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, released a statement. She said the police got a report about the incident at the Ohuru Isimiri Police Divisional Headquarters.
Chinaka explained, "We received a report at the Ohuru Isimiri Police Divisional Headquarters on 09/08/2026 that, on 08/08/2026, Mrs Sara Innocent of Ohuru Isimiri Village allegedly stabbed her husband in the chest with a kitchen knife during a misunderstanding."
She continued, "The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor."
The police have visited the crime scene. The body was taken to the morgue for an autopsy. Mrs Sara Innocent is now in police custody.
Chinaka added, "Discreet investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID)."
Reports say the couple got married in December 2025. They had only been married for about eight months before this tragic event.
