19-Year-Old Arrested for Attempted Robbery with Toy Gun in Katsina

The police in Katsina State have arrested a 19-year-old for pretending to be someone else and trying to rob a person.

The police spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, shared this news in a statement on Monday.

He said the arrest happened after the police got a report on August 22 around 7 p.m.

The suspect was reportedly seen chasing an unknown person while aiming a toy gun at the victim to rob him.

"As a result, alongside the local vigilante group, police quickly responded and caught the suspect around 8:00 p.m. at Kofar Sauri, Katsina," he stated.

During the search, the police found a black toy gun with the suspect.

The suspect is now in police custody as investigations continue.

The Commissioner of Police in Katsina, Ali Umar-Fage, praised the community members and the local vigilante group for their alertness and support.

He urged residents to stay alert and quickly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The commissioner emphasized that teamwork between security agencies and the public is important in fighting crime in the state.
