Atletico Madrid’s Estadio Metropolitano will host the 2027 UEFA Champions League final. Bayern Munich’s stadium and Barcelona’s Camp Nou will hold the finals in 2028 and 2029.

The 2026/27 final is set for Saturday, June 5, 2027, at the Metropolitano. This will be the second time it hosts the final. Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 there in 2019.

On Monday, our correspondent got confirmation from the UEFA website about the 2027 venue. It also mentioned Munich and Barcelona as hosts for the following finals.

Meanwhile, PUNCH Online reports that the 2026/27 Champions League league phase is ongoing. Match week three will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Metropolitano’s History

The stadium has been Atletico Madrid’s home since 2017. It will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2027.

According to UEFA, “The reconstructed stadium replaced the Vicente Calderón as home of three-time UEFA Europa League winners Atlético de Madrid.” The governing body added that the venue “is named in honour of the original Estadio Metropolitano, Atleti’s home until 1966.”

UEFA also noted that the stadium “opened to the public on 16 September 2017 when Atleti faced Málaga in La Liga; Antoine Griezmann scored the stadium’s first goal in a 1-0 home win.”

Located on Avenida Luis Aragonés in north-east Madrid, the stadium can hold around 70,000 fans.

UEFA stated: “Built with environmental concerns in mind, the stadium’s LED lighting and solar panels reduce energy consumption, while recycled rainwater irrigates the pitch. The stadium was the first 100% LED stadium in the world.”

The venue is also in the running to host matches at the 2030 FIFA World Cup. “The venue has also hosted rugby union matches, the World Rugby Sevens Series Grand Final, boxing events and music concerts,” UEFA said.

The 2027 final will be Madrid’s sixth time hosting a European Cup or Champions League final. The Santiago Bernabeu held the finals in 1957, 1969, 1980 and 2010. Only London has hosted more.

What Champions League Winners Get

The Champions League winners will earn more than just the trophy. They will get a spot in the 2027 UEFA Super Cup against the winners of the 2026/27 Europa League.

UEFA said: “The winners will also earn the right to play against the winners of the 2026/27 UEFA Europa League in the 2027 UEFA Super Cup.”

The champions will also have an automatic entry in the league phase of the 2027/28 Champions League if they haven't qualified through their domestic league.

Estadio Metropolitano

“The UEFA Champions League trophy stands 73.5cm tall and weighs 7.5kg,” UEFA said. The trophy’s creator, Jürg Stadelmann, said: “Everybody in football is keen to get their hands on it.”

Bayern’s Munich Stadium to Host 2028 Final

The Munich Football Arena, home to Bayern Munich and known as the Allianz Arena, will host the 2028 Champions League final.

UEFA mentioned that the stadium previously held the final in 2012 and 2025. It also hosted six matches at Euro 2024 and the 2025 UEFA Nations League final.

Barcelona’s Camp Nou Gets 2029 Final

Barcelona’s Camp Nou will host the 2029 final. This will be its third time holding the European Cup or Champions League final.

The stadium previously hosted the finals in 1989 and 1999. AC Milan beat Steaua Bucharest 4-0 in the 1989 final. Manchester United defeated Bayern Munich 2-1 in 1999.

The three venues will host the Champions League finals in consecutive seasons, starting with Madrid in June 2027.
