The South-South Zonal Coordinator of Tinubu Must Stay, Ogie Clement, has asked Nigerians, especially youths and women in the region, to back President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. He believes continuity is key to keeping development programs going.
Clement spoke on Friday at the TMS Town Hall Meeting and Industrial Training Workshop at Tamara Hall in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
He mentioned that the gathering wasn’t just a political meeting. It was also a chance to promote empowerment, skills training, and economic opportunities for women and young people.
He said that empowerment should not just be political talk but should involve giving people practical skills to be financially independent.
“Empowerment is not just a slogan. Empowerment is giving a young man a skill so he will not beg again. Empowerment is giving a woman a trade so she can feed her family with dignity.
“Empowerment is giving a community the tools to build its own future. Today, our youths and women will learn, grow and go home stronger,” he said.
Clement described Tinubu’s government as one that has made bold choices. He urged Nigerians not to quit ongoing programs halfway.
He stressed that the South-South region has benefited from the administration’s infrastructure and empowerment projects. He mentioned the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and support for oil-producing communities as examples.
“In the South-South, we have felt it. From the Coastal Highway to the empowerment programs, to the support for our oil-producing communities, this administration has not forgotten us,” Clement stated.
He pointed out that Nigeria cannot afford to stop ongoing projects. He insisted that continuity is crucial for the country to meet its development goals.
“We cannot afford to stop a good work halfway. A farmer does not abandon his house at foundation level. Nigeria must finish what it started. That is why we say Tinubu Must Stay,” he said.
While addressing participants at the industrial training workshop, Clement urged them to make the most of the opportunity. He encouraged them to learn relevant skills, ask questions, and build useful networks.
He said the TMS movement is not just about political mobilization but also about improving the livelihoods of Nigerians through empowerment.
“When you are empowered, Bayelsa is empowered. When Bayelsa is empowered, the South-South is empowered. When the South-South is empowered, Nigeria is empowered,” he added.
Clement also called on TMS coordinators in the six South-South states to boost grassroots mobilization. He asked them to take the campaign to local government areas, communities, and political units.
He urged members to stay united and warned against any attempts to divide the region and the organization.
The zonal coordinator thanked the Bayelsa State chapter for hosting the event. He reaffirmed the group’s support for Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu as the 2027 elections approach.
Also speaking was a political science lecturer at the Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Mr. Chukwuebuka Okoye. He urged Nigerians to allow Tinubu more time to turn his economic reforms into better living conditions.
He compared the President’s economic reform plans to a farmer who patiently plants and nurtures crops before the harvest.
“What the President is telling us is: Give me more time. You don’t plant a seed today and start to reap the fruits that same day,” he said.
But Okoye noted that the economic improvements must lead to affordable food, jobs, electricity, and security.
He urged Bayelsa stakeholders to communicate the people's development needs to the Federal Government before the 2027 elections.
