The Adamawa State Business Women Support Group for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election has called on National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to step in over issues from the All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate selection in Adamawa Central Senatorial District.

At a press conference in Yola on Thursday, the group's leader, Bilkisu Song, said they were worried about what is happening with the party's senatorial candidate choice for the district.

She said this situation needs attention to keep the party united ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Ribadu, we are begging you as your mothers because we don’t want Mr. President to lose even one vote in the Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone. We appeal to you to look into the concerns being raised and help resolve them,” she stated.

“We are mothers to Mustapha Salihu and all the other contestants, but we believe issues should be handled in a way that promotes growth and peace. As women, we suffer the most when there are political and physical crises in the country or anywhere in the world.”

Song mentioned that the group supported Mustapha Salihu during his campaign for governor across all 21 local government areas of the state. They were later told he would be the senatorial candidate for Adamawa Central.

She urged Ribadu, whom she called a key APC leader in Adamawa, to talk with stakeholders about this issue and think about the hopes of other contestants, including Alhaji Aliyu Abbati Abdul-Hameed.

She also pointed out that many local governments in Adamawa Central had previously sent senators and expressed their wish to see wider representation in the district.

“Yola South produced Senator Aishatu Binani, Song Local Government produced the late Senator Jibrin Aminu, Fufore Local Government produced Senator Bello Tukur, Girei Local Government produced Senator Abubakar Girei, while Hong Local Government produced Senator Aminu Abbas, who is the current senator and is not running again,” she said.

Abbati, who is the former Managing Director of NIRSAL Plc, a part of the Central Bank of Nigeria, ran alongside six others. This included Senator Abdurazak Nyako, who stepped down before the primary election.

Mustapha Salihu was a governorship hopeful who campaigned across all 21 local government areas of Adamawa State to get the APC governorship ticket.
