The Adamawa State Business Women Support Group is asking the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to step in on issues from the All Progressives Congress senatorial candidate selection in Adamawa Central Senatorial District.

At a press conference in Yola on Thursday, Bilkisu Song, the group's leader, shared that members are worried about the situation surrounding the party's senatorial candidate for the district.

She explained that this issue needs attention to keep the party united as the 2027 general elections approach.

“Ribadu, we are begging you as your mothers because we don’t want Mr. President to lose even one vote in the Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone. We appeal to you to look into the concerns being raised and help resolve them,” she said.

“We are mothers to Mustapha Salihu and all the other contestants, but we believe issues should be handled in a way that promotes development and peace. As women, we suffer the most when there are political and physical crises in the country or anywhere in the world.”

Song mentioned that the group supported Mustapha Salihu during his governorship campaign across the state’s 21 local governments. They later found out he would be the senatorial candidate for Adamawa Central.

She urged Ribadu, who she called a key APC leader in Adamawa State, to talk to stakeholders about this issue and consider the hopes of other contestants, including Alhaji Aliyu Abbati Abdul-Hameed.

She also pointed out that several local governments in Adamawa Central have had senators before. The group wants to see wider representation in the district.

“Yola South produced Senator Aishatu Binani, Song Local Government produced the late Senator Jibrin Aminu, Fufore Local Government produced Senator Bello Tukur, Girei Local Government produced Senator Abubakar Girei, while Hong Local Government produced Senator Aminu Abbas, who is the serving senator and is not contesting again,” she said.

Abbati is the former Managing Director of NIRSAL Plc, a part of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He ran for the position with six others, including Senator Abdurazak Nyako, who withdrew before the primary election.

Mustapha Salihu was a governorship candidate who campaigned across all 21 local governments of Adamawa State for the APC governorship ticket.
