82-Year-Old Man Votes in Osun, Calls on Government to Do More

An 82-year-old man from Esa-Odo, Moses Olufemi, voted on Saturday at the Esa-Odo Apostolic Primary School polling unit, PU 001, Ward 09, in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State.

Mr Olufemi spoke with PREMIUM TIMES at the polling unit. He said the voting process was smooth, even with the early morning crowd.

He came out to vote to fulfill his civic duty.
"It’s my civic right to do, if I don’t do it, I am cheating myself," the old man said.

Mr Olufemi also called on the Osun State Government to keep meeting its responsibilities to the people. He noted that many residents had come out to exercise their civic rights.

Voting started around 8:30 a.m. at the polling unit, with voters lining up to cast their votes.

Earlier, Bello Oluwatoye, an assistant presiding officer with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), spoke to voters in the queue shortly after voting began.

Mr Oluwatoye asked voters to let elderly people vote first so they could go home early.

The polling unit has 822 registered voters. Security officials were also present to keep order and ensure peaceful voting.
