Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has kept his word to help veteran Nollywood actress, Ngozi Nwosu, by approving a payment of ₦25 million to the hospital treating her.
The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Justice, shared the news on X this Thursday.
He said the payment was completed before the end of work on Wednesday, fulfilling Otti’s promise to support the actress with her medical costs.
“Yesterday before the close of work, His Excellency @alexottiofr, our pragmatic leader, made good his promise, directing a ₦25m payment to the hospital’s account where our Nollywood legendary actress, Mrs Ngozi Nwosu, is receiving treatment.
“We thank you immensely for your support and kindness of heart, sir. History will be kind to you,” he posted.
This payment came just a day after the Abia State Government announced that the governor had approved the first part of Nwosu’s medical expenses. This followed her heartfelt plea for financial help to undergo three critical surgeries.
PUNCH Online had reported earlier that the 62-year-old actress revealed in a video on her Instagram that she had been hospitalized for three weeks and urgently needed ₦30 million to have the surgeries done.
“My people, my fans and my family, I know that you’ve not seen me in circulation for some time. I’ve been hospitalised now for three weeks. Please, the thing has gone beyond my control,” she said.
“I need your help. Don’t let me die. I know that you people never forsake me… I’m begging you, my fans and family, don’t let me die because I am going through a lot, as in pain.”
The actress asked her fans, colleagues, and well-wishers to help support her treatment through her management, saying she could no longer handle the financial burden of her healthcare.
The governor’s support has received praise from fans and members of the entertainment community.
