Abia PDP Candidate Focuses on Youth and Agriculture for 2027

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State, Dr Kelechi Anosike, has promised to prioritize youth development and agriculture if elected. He believes young people must be allowed to play a key role in the state's progress.

Anosike made this statement at the Ohuhu Youth Day event at Afugiri Central School, Ohuhu. He called on the youths in the state to back his 2027 governorship ambition.

He emphasized that any government that ignores the youth does not understand what the future holds. He said the youths will be crucial in shaping society.

"Any government that does not have a programme for the youths does not understand the future because the youths are the future," he stated.

Job Creation through Agriculture

Anosike pointed out that agriculture can create jobs and ensure food security in Abia. He revealed that his welfare agenda will include Operation Feed Abia, a plan to encourage youths to return to farming.

He praised the Ohuhu youth leadership for involving young people in agriculture and technology. He also announced a donation of N1 million to support the group’s agricultural initiatives.

Anosike also promised that if elected, he would create job opportunities for Abia youths in companies across Asia and Europe through virtual employment.

"If elected, we will go beyond this. We intend to start programmes whereby even if you are in any part of Abia State, you can work in companies in Asia or Europe through what we call the Abia Global Opportunity Agency," he said.

He encouraged the Ohuhu youths to see his governorship ambition as a shared project and asked for their support.

"I believe in the future of Ohuhu Youth and all the youths of Abia State. Any other programme you are doing, call on me, I will support you," Anosike added.

Recognition for Youth Leadership

The event chairman, Royal High Chief Ugochukwu Edozie, commended the youth leadership for their vision and the positive impact of their initiatives.

Edozie also suggested that the Ohuhu Youth Day should become an annual celebration.

Earlier, Chief Uchenna Iheanacho, president of the Ohuhu Welfare Union Youth Wing, revealed that the group has empowered over 300 individuals through farming and skills training.

Iheanacho shared that they need about N75 million for their next projects. These include an agricultural and free farming loan scheme, campaigns against drug abuse and cultism, health awareness programs, ICT training for 50 students, and vocational training.

He appealed to the government, businesses, and philanthropists to help the Ohuhu youths reach their goals.

At the event, Anosike received a Visionary Leadership Award from the Ohuhu Youth Wing of the Ohuhu Welfare Union. The traditional ruler of Umudiawa Autonomous Community, Eze Nnamdi Ofoegbu, presented the award.
