The Abia State Government has said that it did not buy two Toyota Hilux trucks for N1.3 billion. They explained that this number came from a mistake in the 2025 Accountant-General’s Report.

The State Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, shared this in a statement on Tuesday. He said a review of payment records and procurement documents by the Office of the Accountant-General showed that the actual spending was about ₦1,003,091,350.00 for 12 Toyota Hilux trucks, not two.

“The figure ‘2’ that appeared on page 401 of the report was due to missing the digit ‘1’. It did not show the correct number of vehicles bought.

“The verified payment schedule totals ₦1,003,091,350.00, which means each truck cost around ₦83.59 million,” Mr Kanu stated.

The number “2” on page 401 of the report was because the digit “1” was left out. This did not reflect the real number of vehicles purchased.

The verified payment schedule totals ₦1,003,091,350.00, which shows an average cost of around ₦83.59 million for each vehicle. (See Table Below);
