Access Holdings Plc has announced that Olanrewaju Bamisebi is retiring from his role as Executive Director of Information Technology and Digitalisation. His retirement follows the end of his term contract.
This retirement took effect on 30 September, as stated in a regulatory filing by the company. The filing was signed by Sunday Ekwochi, the group company secretary, and released on Friday.
The company mentioned that this decision aligns with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) Corporate Governance Guidelines for Financial Holding Companies in Nigeria.
According to these guidelines, a financial holding company can have a maximum of two executive directors. These are the managing director or chief executive officer and one other executive director, who must be the chief financial officer, pending the CBN’s approval.
Access Holdings expressed gratitude for Mr Bamisebi’s work in advancing the digital transformation and growth of the Access Group during his time there.
“The Board expresses its sincere appreciation to Mr. Bamisebi for his dedicated service and contributions to the digital transformation and growth of the Access Group during his tenure and wishes him every success in his future endeavours,” the notice said.
With over 20 years of experience in IT and digitalization, Mr Bamisebi was responsible for the group’s digital strategy across 19 countries while serving over 68 million customers.
His achievements include creating solutions in mobile money, payment gateways, telco and fintech convergence, and marketplaces.
He also actively participates in various technology and industry advisory boards and supports non-profits that promote talent in science, technology, machine learning, and AI.
