The African Democratic Congress in Kaduna State has finished its primaries. They have announced three senatorial candidates for the 2027 general elections.
Mr Ladan Salihu, the Chairman of the Primary Elections Committee in Kaduna State, shared the results at a press conference in Kaduna on Sunday.
Salihu mentioned that the party had already held its presidential and governorship primaries. The latest round included senatorial, House of Representatives, and a few State House of Assembly primaries.
He said that the smooth running of the primaries showed the party’s dedication to internal democracy. It also highlighted their transparent process for picking candidates.
All the winners were elected following party rules. They will represent the ADC in the 2027 general elections.
“This is to certify that all aspirants listed in this release are duly elected winners of the various primary elections and are hereby declared candidates of the African Democratic Congress for the 2027 elections.
In Kaduna North Senatorial District, Returning Officer Ibrahim Sidi Bamalli announced Sen. Khalid Ibrahim Mustafa Soba as the winner. He received 83,070 votes in an uncontested race.
In Kaduna Central, Returning Officer Abdullahi Chiromawa said Sen. Lawal Adamu Usman won with 47,488 votes, also without opposition.
In Kaduna South, Returning Officer Murtala Abubakar declared Mr Godfrey Ali Gaya the winner with 28,378 votes. He defeated Mr Aminchi Abu, who got 5,299 votes.
Salihu is confident that these candidates will improve the party’s chances in the 2027 elections as political activities heat up in the state.
