Adeleke Promises Osun State Funds Will Benefit Residents

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has asked voters to back his re-election, claiming his government has made significant progress in the state.

Adeleke spoke at the Arise Townhall Meeting on Tuesday. He said he returned to power in 2022 after going back to school because he felt cheated in the 2018 governorship election.

"I was cheated in 2018. I went back to school and returned in 2022," he said.

The governor assured residents that his administration has focused on development and that state funds will be used for their benefit. "Osun State money will stay in Osun," he declared, promising that "more goodies are on the way."

Adeleke highlighted the road construction projects his government has carried out, noting that some roads had been left unattended for years before his administration took over. He rejected claims that the roads built under his watch were of poor quality, stating that qualified Nigerian engineers were hired to do the work.

"It is a sin to say that the roads I constructed are substandard. I used professional engineers. I used Nigerian engineers. I supervised their work," he emphasized.

He mentioned that his government has "done so much" for the people of Osun, and residents have seen the benefits of the projects. He accused the All Progressives Congress of spreading lies to undermine his administration.

Adeleke also defended his love for dancing at public events, which has become a signature part of his political style. He said this has nothing to do with his ability to govern.

"Those that can’t dance are jealous of me. In my family, we have music in our blood. Nobody will stop me from dancing. I dance and work. There is time to dance and there is time to work. I will teach them how to work if they want," he stated.

He claimed the APC is using federal power to intimidate voters ahead of the election but remains confident about winning. "Dancing is my hobby. In this election, I will be victorious," Adeleke said.

On security, the Accord Party candidate said his criminology background has prepared him to address security issues in the state. "I am a security expert. I studied criminology. My aim is to protect my people, and I am doing that," he said.

Adeleke mentioned that his government has recruited about 1,500 Amotekun personnel who received training from experienced security officers. He noted that Osun had been mostly peaceful until the election period, when intimidation and violence have started.

"Osun has been peaceful until recent times, when the election approaches. They started intimidating and killing our people," he claimed.

The governor said he has raised these security concerns with the right authorities and met with security experts to ensure the safety of residents before, during, and after the election.
