Adeleke Tells Osun Politicians to Unite for Tinubu

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has promised President Bola Tinubu that he will deliver votes from the state. He insisted that he does not make empty promises and that politicians should act with integrity.

Adeleke made this promise while welcoming the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Ajibola Basiru, who visited him on Sunday.

The governor, who referred to Tinubu as his "dear father," emphasized that he is serious about his commitment to the President. He said he means his promise to deliver the state’s votes "100 per cent."

He stated, "I don’t make empty promises. When I said we will deliver Osun State votes to our dear father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I mean it 100 per cent."

"Politics must be with integrity. We are all from Osun State. Let’s forget our differences and work for the President," he added.

Adeleke explained that his views come from the values his father, a diplomat and labour union politician, taught him. He said his father taught him and his siblings that they must keep their promises.

This principle has become a strong family value for Adeleke and has influenced how he handles politics.

The governor also talked about his role in the political discussions that led to Godswill Akpabio becoming Senate President and Tajudeen Abbas becoming Speaker of the House of Representatives.

He said he assured President Tinubu during that time that lawmakers from Osun would support the President’s chosen candidates. This was even when some members of his political group were backing Senator Abdulaziz Yari.

Adeleke reached out to the lawmakers and convinced them to support the President’s choices. He noted that eventually, the three senators from Osun and members of the House of Representatives supported the preferred candidates.

He believes this experience reinforced the idea that political commitments should be kept. Adeleke added that he does not play political games or make promises he does not intend to keep.

"I don’t make empty promises, I don’t play games. That’s not me, because I have a fear of God," he said.

The governor urged politicians and residents of Osun to set aside their differences and work together for the development of the state and the success of the President. He said political differences should not stop people from supporting efforts that would benefit Osun State and its people.
