Nollywood's faith-based film, Agbara Nla: The Return, has made over N307.2 million at the box office. This was announced by its distributors and production partners.
The film shared this news in a post on Instagram on Friday from its distributor, Nile Group. They thanked audiences for their support and called this achievement the highest-grossing Nollywood title ever for an October release. It is also the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2026.
"Thank you, Nigeria! Agbára Nlá: The Return has grossed N307.2M+, the highest-grossing Nollywood title ever for an October release and the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood title of 2026," the announcement said.
The film's latest earnings show growth from the over N170.6 million it made in its first four days in cinemas. This was previously reported by PUNCH Online.
Nile Group announced this earlier milestone on October 5. They called the performance a major achievement for the film.
"The revival is here. The power is moving. Agbara Nla: The Return opened with N170.6m+. It can only be God," the distributor said.
Nile Group also thanked audiences for showing up for the film, noting that it had packed cinemas and sold-out shows.
"Thank you, everyone, for the packed cinemas, SOLD-OUT shows and incredible love," they added.
The distributor noted that the film’s opening was the biggest for Nollywood outside of December. It was also the biggest October opening weekend and the largest opening weekend for a faith-based film.
Agbara Nla: The Return is a remake of the 1993 Christian film made by filmmaker Mike Bamiloye. The new version was directed by his sons, Damilola Mike-Bamiloye and Joshua "Jay Mikee" Mike-Bamiloye.
The film returned to cinemas on October 1, 2026, over thirty years after the original was released.
