The air team of Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai has killed 27 terrorists in different air missions targeting terrorist hideouts in the Southern and Northern Tumbus areas of Borno.
An operational report from the Nigerian Air Force, shared with the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday, showed that the strikes happened after Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions across the area.
The report said that air assets, including Dragon and ISR platforms, carried out an air mission at Dawoshe, a known terrorist hideout in the Southern Tumbus area, around 12:40 am on June 10.
The report mentioned that they spotted terrorists’ vehicles during aerial surveillance and the aircraft attacked them.
"Battle Damage Assessment revealed that the vehicles were destroyed, while 12 terrorists were neutralised during the operation," the report stated.
The report also said that the air team made a precise strike on terrorist positions at Metele in the Northern Tumbus area of Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno on the same day.
It added that "post-strike assessments, supported by BDA and Human Intelligence (HUMINT), confirmed that 15 terrorists were neutralised during the operation."
According to the report, the successful strikes hit hard at terrorist groups operating near Lake Chad and Tumbus hideouts.
It pointed out that these operations are part of ongoing efforts to weaken terrorist abilities, disrupt their supply routes, and stop insurgents from moving freely in the North-East area.
The report also confirmed that a total of 27 terrorists were neutralised in the two air missions carried out at that time.
It restated the commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to continue attacks on terrorist strongholds until lasting peace and security return to the region.
