Airtel Money, the mobile money branch of Airtel Africa Plc, has started conditional trading of its shares on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) from 9 October 2026. This news came from a regulatory filing on Friday.

Airtel Africa said, “The commencement of unconditional dealings in the Airtel Money shares on the London Stock Exchange is expected to occur at 8.00 a.m. on 14 October 2026.”

The company also mentioned that Airtel Money will join the equity shares category of the Official List of the FCA and will trade on the Main Market for listed securities of the London Stock Exchange on the same date.

Earlier this month, Airtel Money set its initial public offering (IPO) price at £1.96 per share. They aim for a market value of $7 billion when they officially list.

They also plan to sell 270 million shares in a secondary share sale to raise about $703 million. This IPO will be the biggest listing on the London Stock Exchange since Fermi Inc, a Texas-based energy and real estate company, listed its shares last September.

Airtel Africa will keep a majority stake of about 78 percent. Institutional investors in the fintech include the Qatari Sovereign Wealth Fund, Mastercard, Chimetech, and The Rise Fund II Aurora.

In the Friday statement, Airtel Africa said, “is not selling existing Airtel Money shares in the offer and is expected to remain a long-term strategic shareholder and to support Airtel Money’s next phase of development as an independently listed business.”

Airtel Money is expected to have a free float of around 16.5 percent after the listing. This means that this portion of the shares will be available for trading in the market.

On their LSE debut on Friday, Airtel Money shares dropped below their IPO price. They fell to £1.93 per share in early trading after briefly rising to £2.

The company offers fintech services like money transfers, digital banking, and bill payments in thirteen African countries, including Nigeria, Tanzania, and Kenya.
