Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade had surgery in France on Friday after getting injured while playing for Nigeria.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward got hurt during Nigeria’s 5-0 win against Comoros. This match was the second leg of their 2028 Olympic qualifying tie at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, on Tuesday.
The injury happened in the 23rd minute. It was caused by a collision with a player from Comoros. She got treatment on the pitch before being taken off on a stretcher. Folashade Ijamilusi replaced her.
Ajibade, who is 26 years old, reportedly suffered a fibula fracture.
In a medical update before their game against OL Lyonnes, PSG said a specialist surgeon from the club performed the operation. After that, she will start her rehabilitation with the medical team.
Reports from France say this injury might keep her out for the rest of 2026. But PSG has not announced when she might return. That will depend on how well she recovers.
This injury cuts short a great run for Ajibade. She had scored in the UEFA Champions League and also in PSG’s 3-1 victory over Fleury in the Arkema Première Ligue. So far, she has scored four goals in all competitions and netted in two straight club matches.
