Nigeria’s Ambassador to Burkina Faso, Syndoph Paebi Endoni, has urged the Golden Eaglets to win the WAFU-B U-17 Championship. He wants them to make millions of Nigerian football fans proud.
Ambassador Endoni shared this message while hosting the national youth team and their officials at a dinner at the Nigerian Embassy in Ouagadougou. This event happened just before the tournament kicked off.
The ambassador, who once played basketball and founded the Rivers Hoopers, encouraged the young players to take pride in representing Nigeria.
“You have come here to represent Nigeria. I therefore charge you to fly Nigeria’s flag higher and higher. Win for us. Win for the millions of football-loving Nigerians all over the world,” Endoni said.
He acknowledged that mistakes are part of sports. But he emphasized the need for the players to quickly adapt and keep a strong winning mindset. “You may make mistakes on the pitch, but you must correct them immediately and ensure that you win all your games,” he said. He added that football can help keep young people away from crime.
As the Eaglets prepare for their first match against Niger Republic on Wednesday, the ambassador promised they would have strong support from Nigerians living in Burkina Faso.
“I want to assure you that Nigerians here will be at the stadium to support the team. The Nigerian community will give the team huge support in all its matches,” Endoni concluded.
