The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Ama, has ordered police teams to work harder to find those responsible for the murders that happened on Sunday night in Awka, the state capital.

This order came after a two-hour meeting Ama had with his officers on Monday. They reviewed information from the public, especially in Awka, after the killings of Isaac Nwosu, known as “Azia Nwosu,” and another person who has not been identified yet.

CP Ama also visited Nwosu’s family to express his condolences and to look into the security situation in the area.

During the visit, Ama called Nwosu a valuable member of both his family and the state. He said his contributions to the development of Anambra would be greatly missed.

The CP promised Nwosu’s family and the people of the state that the police would take the matter seriously. He urged residents to trust the police and the ongoing investigation into the case.

Nwosu and another person were shot dead by unknown gunmen on Sunday. This happened along S.M. Okeke Street in Amaikwo, Awka, and also on Capital City Road in Amaenyi, Awka.

The reason behind these killings is still not known. The incidents have raised fears in the community, prompting security forces to increase their presence in the area.

After his visit, the CP said that the two-hour meeting with his officers was part of the ongoing efforts to review what the public has shared, especially in Awka.

He said, "The meeting is aimed at strengthening security operations and sustaining the fight against violent crime, and to intensify efforts towards identifying and apprehending the perpetrators."

Ama continued, "We also paid a condolence visit to the family of late Isaac Nwosu, who lost his life in a recent security incident in Awka."

He added, "The late Isaac Nwosu, popularly known as Azia, was an asset to the State. He will be greatly missed not only by the family but also by Anambra State Police Command for his service during the Command's security advocacy and other contributions."

He concluded, "To this end, the relevant operational and investigative units have been directed to intensify efforts towards identifying and apprehending the perpetrators."

CP Ama reassured the family and residents of Anambra State that the Command would pursue the matter with determination. He also encouraged Ndi Anambra to keep believing in the integrity of the police and the investigation into this unfortunate incident.
