Police Step Up Patrols to Improve Security in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has stepped up patrols in key areas of the state. This move aims to improve security and reassure residents about their safety.

This information came from a statement by the command's spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Monday.

Ikenga said the patrols started on Monday. The goal is to provide real-time information and support security operations. This is meant to stop criminals from having the chance to act in the state.

He called the patrols a smart move to make public safety better. The initiative will also help speed up responses to emergencies and support other security agencies in keeping people safe.

Ikenga mentioned that the police will keep doing their job despite the weather conditions.

The statement said, "The Anambra State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property. We will continue our strong security operations in identified key locations across the state."

The Command started a proactive policing plan on July 20, 2026. This plan includes more visible patrols, operations based on intelligence, building public confidence, stop-and-search activities, and working together with other security groups.

These actions aim to prevent crime, reassure the public, and ensure quick responses to any security issues.

Despite the weather challenges, the police are determined to fulfill their duty to protect lives and property. They also want to stop criminals from having any chance to operate in the state.

The Commissioner of Police has assured Ndi Anambra that the Command will keep working with other security agencies and relevant groups. They are focused on maintaining law and order and ensuring everyone’s safety.

Ikenga urged the public to stay alert, obey the law, and be aware of their security. He asked people to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest Police Station or use the Command's emergency response numbers.
